A native of Bethesda, Md., Diaz received his journalism degree from Columbia College Chicago in 2004 and previously covered immigration, government and politics for The Chicago Reporter.
He has also worked as a suburban reporter for the Daily Herald, (Arlington Heights, Ill.) and as a suburban and night police reporter at The Democrat and Chronicle, (Rochester, N.Y.).
