Roberto Pazos is an Assignment Editor at “CNN en Espanolâ€, Atlanta, US headquarters. Mr. Pazos is in charge of coordinating coverage, breaking news, live shots, and production of morning shows, working with over 60 correspondents around the world.
Pazos also worked as General Assignment Reporter for UNIVISION in Oklahoma City, he founded the Oklahoma Chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Journalist -NAHJ- in 2005 and was elected President of the first Board. At the Fort Lauderdale Convention 2006 he was nominated and elected by the NAHJ Board to represent Region 5.
Pazos, a native of Lima Peru, started his journalism career working as an Associate Producer for Primer Impacto in Lima in 1995. He has worked in a variety of television markets as a TV reporter throughout South America and US . He has held reporting jobs in Lima Peru and New York City. He also worked as a Freelance writer and photographer for Hora Hispana, “New York Daily†News publication and “El Diario LaPrensaâ€.
Pazos studied Journalism at New York University from 2002 to 2004. In addition, he has attended trainings at France 3 Mediterranée in Marseille, France in 1996. He was received numerous awards in different journalism events including the Grand Prix at the Fifth Youth Report Festival of Port de Bouc, France in 1995; Excellence for Journalism at Press World Meeting in Fribourg, Switzerland in 2001; and recently the Individual Media Award given by the Greater Oklahoma City Hispanic Chamber in 2005.
As a committed Hispanic Journalist Roberto Pazos is working in several projects to promote the hiring of Hispanics journalist at newsrooms. Recently, Pazos presented a panel about the experience of being a Hispanic broadcaster. (Society of professional journalist conference, Atlanta, 2008).
