Nominations are Now Being Accepted for the 2017 NAHJ Hall of Fame Awards!
Do you know someone who is making a difference for Latinos in journalism? Someone who’s coverage of the Latino community goes beyond the who, what, when, where and how? Maybe you know an educator who is grooming young Latino journalists into future stars?
Nominate them for the 2017 Hall of Fame Award! The Hall of Fame gala will be held during the Excellence in Journalism conference, on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the Anaheim Marriott in Anaheim, CA.
The deadline to nominate someone is Wednesday, May 31, 2017.
Hall of Fame Guidelines
Every year, NAHJ is proud to recognize an individual who has courageously upheld our mission to expand the number of Latinos in newsrooms and improve coverage of Latino communities. This individual has demonstrated a commitment to our profession, paving the way for other Latino journalists. They have practiced journalistic values with distinction while inspiring others to do the same. They have been pioneers, leaders and mentors.
Eligibility: Any journalist is eligible, whether or not they are members of NAHJ. The person also may be in the academic field, demonstrating a commitment to producing outstanding journalists through education. The nominee, or a reasonable representative, must be able to attend the Hall of Fame Gala on Saturday, September 9, 2017 in Anaheim, CA.
Criteria: Individuals must be nominated by an NAHJ member. Please submit a letter of nomination in 300 words or less stating why this person should be inducted into the NAHJ Hall of Fame. In addition, a résumé, references, and writing and/or broadcast samples for the person being nominated must also be included. We recommend broadcast work samples be submitted as links in a Word document. Current members of the NAHJ board and staff are ineligible. Nominations will be presented to the board, which will have full discretion on the selection of inductees.
