NAHJ Opening Reception

The convention officially kicks off at this premier venue on Fort Lauderdale’s New River.
Thursday, June 15th
NAHJ Casino Night

This 86-acre megaplex has over 15 dining options to fit every budget, world-class entertainment, live performance venues, shopping and over 2,000 gaming machines and numerous poker tables. Members will be given discount coupon booklets (including a $5 free play at the casino) to dine, drink, shop and gamble.Then, at 10 p.m., join us for a lavish party with live costumed Brazillian dancers and drummers at Pangaea, a lounge with East African décor where the DJ will be spinning international latin music beats. And for a wild dance experience, walk through the corridor that connects to Gryphon, one of the hottest dance clubs in Fort Lauderdale, whose DJ will be playing latin dance mixes - including salsa, merengue and reggaeton.

NAHJ Beach Party

That evening you will venture to our own private island for a true Caribbean beach experience featuring mouth-watering seafood paella, tiki bars, freshly cut coconut drinks, bonfires, a live band and dance the night away on a sand dance floor. While you’re there compete in our first domino tournament for a chance to win a complimentary registration to our 2007 Convention in San Jose.
Saturday, June 17th
2nd Annual NAHJ Golf Tournament

Compete for top prizes while networking with colleagues. All proceeds from the tournament will benefit NAHJ's Rubén Salazar Scholarship Fund and educational programs. $250 Individuals (includes breakfast, lunch, cart and green fees); $1,500 Hole Sponsor (includes foursome in tournament and signage at one hole). NAHJ Sports Task Force Luncheon

The NAHJ Sports Task Force gathers sports celebrities and newsmakers along with sports journalists and columnists for a discussion about issues of coverage, image and controversies that fuel the news surrounding the Latino community’s participation and preferences in sports in the U.S. and abroad. This breakfast salutes the work of the Sports Task Force in creating a network of Hispanics in sports journalism by providing professional development and mentorship opportunities.
World Cup Lounge

It’s World Cup time, so we’ll talk about soccer and then mosey on in to our World Cup Lounge for the USA vs. Italy game.
NAHJ Silent Auction Reception

During this cocktail reception, bid on some travel packages, photographs and a host of other prizes to the beat of Latin jazz with all proceeds benefiting the NAHJ Rubén Salazar Scholarship Fund and Education Programs.

At the convention’s closing gala, attendees will honor the newest inductee(s) to the NAHJ Hall of Fame and cap half a week’s worth of professional development and networking with a grand fiesta to the rhythm of salsa and reggaeton.

NAHJ Father’s Day with the Florida Marlins
