Don’t just come for Puerto Rico’s tropical breezes and sandy beaches. Come for the whirlwind of training sessions, in-depth discussions and networking designed to give attendees skills they need to be the journalists of the future and help them navigate through this changing news environment.
Explore U.S. and Latin American economic and political trends vital to the country’s fast-growing Latino community while also getting down to brass tacks. For example, we’ll feature two rooms of constant online skills training over four days in English and in Spanish on everything from podcasting, recording audio, and using Flash to how to monetize your blog.
Those striking out on their own as part of the growing group of entrepreneurial journalists will get some training they need. Sessions like narrative storytelling and doing good live shots will round out discussions on U.S. policy in Latin America and sound personal finances in the midst of crisis.
And get a head start by arriving Tuesday, June 23, the eve of St. John the Baptist Day. That way you’re sure not to miss the all-day training sessions and official opening of the convention on Wednesday. And Tuesday night you can do what the locals do all across Puerto Rico – party on the beach and throw yourself in the water backwards nine times to wash away those evil spirits (and all the bad vibes of 2008). We’ve set it all up at the beach of the Caribe Hilton, the headquarters hotel. A perfect way to start the convention with a fresh outlook!
