NAHJ, NABJ Team Up for Online Training in Philly
Learn Multimedia, Broaden Your Skills
New year, new you! Start off the new year by learning multimedia; it will broaden your skill set. Participate in a discussion on the state of old media vs. new media, sports journalism online, the impact of social networking and blogging. Attend hands-on sessions in computer labs that will provide demonstration on software programs such as Flash, Photoshop and Final Cut. Learn how to write for the web, how video has impacted visual journalism, how to produce a show for the web and how to vidcast. You can bring laptops, but there will be computers with the skills-based programs available for your use.
The National Association of Hispanic Journalists Region 3 and the Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists have teamed up to produce a skills-based multimedia conference titled "La Nueva Frontera Digital: A Multimedia Experience for Journalists." The conference takes place on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Temple University's Tuttleman Hall, on 13th & Montgomery Streets, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Registration rates: $20 students, $30 members of NABJ/PABJ, $40 non-members. Registration includes lunch and an evening reception. Conference registrants are invited to attend a special evening reception at the National Constitution Center's upcoming exhibit "America I AM: The African American Imprint," presented by Tavis Smiley. The exhibit celebrates over 400 years of African American contributions. On display are various artifacts, multimedia, photos and documents. It debuts its nationwide tour in Philadelphia at the Constitution Center. The reception begins after the conference, around 6:30 p.m. at the National Constitution Center, 525 Arch Street, Philadelphia. www.constitutioncenter.org
