NEW DIGS:
Two enduring Hispanic media entities held open house events to show off their new headquarters last week.
In Austin, Texas, the nine-year-old weekly radio news magazine Latino USA celebrated moving into its new headquarters at 2609 University Ave., Suite 3108, Austin TX 78705 on Nov. 9. Its half-hour program airs on 200 stations, with about half broadcast on National Public Radio-affiliated stations, according to senior producer Alex Avila.
Following the office-warming, Latino USA executive producer Maria Martin headed to points south, including Guatemala and Uruguay, on Fulbright and Knight fellowships. During her 10 months of Latin American travel, she will be developing expanded coverage concepts for the program.
Also on Nov. 9, the National Association of Hispanic Publications introduced guests to its more spacious quarters in the National Press Building, where they had a chance to meet president Zeke Montes, publisher of Chicago's Tele Guia, and new NAHP executive director Randy Martinez. Its new address: Suite 941, National Press Building, 529 14th St. NW, Washington, D.C. 20045.
