NAHJ Congratulates Ibargüen, Reyes for Receiving Cabot Award
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The NAHJ congratulates Alberto Ibargüen, publisher of the Miami Herald and El Nuevo Herald, and Gerardo Reyes, an investigative reporter for the Miami Herald, as both were honored at the 2004 Maria Moors Cabot Awards at Columbia University on Tuesday, Oct. 5.
Reyes is one of four recipients of the 2004 Maria Moors Cabot Prize for outstanding reporting on Latin America, for his pioneering investigative work in the U.S. and Latin America. Ibargüen will receive a special citation for his work in championing freedom of the press throughout Latin America.
The dinner ceremony took place in the Rotunda of Low Memorial Library on campus.
Columbia's graduate school of journalism administers the Maria Moors Cabot prizes, the oldest international journalism awards founded in 1938
Founded in 1984, NAHJ's mission is to increase the number of Latinos working in our nation's newsrooms and to improve news coverage of the nation's Latino community.
