Washington -- The National Association of Hispanic Journalists mourns the passing of Don Fitzpatrick, the legendary TV talent recruiter, who died in his home in Alexandria, La., April 17.
The TVSpy news story on Don’s passing noted that he owned and operated Don Fitzpatrick Associates in San Francisco from 1982 to 2000 which, at the time, was the largest TV newsroom and management recruitment firm in the nation. He founded ShopTalk in 1983, a must-read daily newsletter for all industry professionals. The newsletter would later become one of the first to be distributed by e-mail. He also helped develop the on-line site TVSpy Watercooler that provides current news about the TV industry.
“We all mourn the loss of Don Fitzpatrick,” said NAHJ President Veronica Villafañe. “Don was a friend to NAHJ who helped many of our members advance in their careers. This is a truly devastating loss for our industry.”
