From Farmingville, N.Y., to Farmers Branch, Texas: Flashpoints of rage and rally over immigration

Media Contacts: , (817) 390-7807

A panel of reporters will discuss the immigration coverage in Farmers Branch at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 13, at KERA Channel 13 studios, 3000 Harry Hines Blvd. in Dallas. Admission is free.

The forum will look at the legal issues in Farmers Branch with its new anti-illegal immigrant measures; the political effort to derail it via a petition drive; and the broader issues inspired by the cultural shift taking place in North Texas and the nation. We'll also discuss how the reporters have covered the issue and the impact the coverage has had on them.

The panel will consist of Anabelle Garay of The Associated Press; Stephanie Sandoval of The Dallas Morning News; Alexis Brito of Univision KUVN Channel 23; Saul Garza of KDFW FOX 4, and Julian Resendiz of Al Dia and Constanza Morales of Diario La Estrella. Bob Ray Sanders of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram will moderate.

The panel session open to members of the media, special guests, and members of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and the DFW Network of Hispanic Communicators.

Please RSVP to NAHJ At Large Officer Gary Piņa of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram at (817) 390-7807, or e-mail to gpina@star-telegram.com.

The event is sponsored by the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and the DFW Network of Hispanic Communicators.
