Nancy Flores is an award-winning, bilingual journalist who has reported in newsrooms across the country and abroad for more than a decade.

She’s currently a features writer for the Austin American-Statesman, where she covers the city’s Latino cultural arts scene and more. Her column, Cultura en Austin, publishes monthly in the arts and entertainment tabloid, Austin360.

Nancy was previously a multimedia journalist based in Mexico City, where she reported stories throughout Mexico and Central America for publications including Cox Newspapers and the Miami Herald’s Mexico Edition.

She’s a former Hearst Newspapers Fellow and Chips Quinn Scholar. Nancy graduated from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas, with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and English Writing and Rhetoric. She currently serves as President of her alma mater’s College Assistance Migrant Program Alumni Association.

In 2015, Nancy became part of the founding board of directors for the newly launched NAHJ Central Texas Chapter. She served as Vice President of Print, and now serves on NAHJ’s executive board as national secretary.
