The Corpus Christi (Texas) Caller-Times needs an
energetic, enterprising assistant city editor who
is organized, has a nose for news, is a good line
editor and enjoys working with and teaching young
reporters. Experience is a plus, but we would hire
the right reporter or copy editor ready for a management
position. This assistant city editor should expect
to use all of the visual and interactive storytelling
tools available at the Caller-Times (circulation 81,000
Sunday, 61,000+ daily), including staff photographers,
graphic artists, page designers and the newspaper's
Internet site. Applicants must have at least three
years of daily newspaper experience. Spanish fluency
is a plus. The Caller-Times, owned by Scripps
Howard, pays competitive salary and excellent benefits.
Corpus Christi sits on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico,
about three hours southwest of Houston and two hours
south of San Antonio. The tropical climate, beach,
diverse population and growing area make Corpus Christi
a dynamic area for telling great stories. The paper
consistently is among the top award winners in the
region for a mid-sized daily. Be ready to work hard
and grow professionally. Send or e-mail resume, cover
letter, work samples and references to: Tom Whitehurst,
Metro Editor, Corpus Christi Caller-Times, P.O. Box
9136, Corpus Christi, TX 78469-9136. (361) 886-3688.
