Sports Editor San Angelo Standard-Times
Posted July 6, 2004 San Angelo, Texas..
The San Angelo Standard-Times, a daily Scripps newspaper, is seeking a sports editor with the vision, skill and leadership to make our good sports coverage great. The Standard-Times circulates approximately 28,000 daily and 32,000 Sunday across the vast expanse of West Texas, a place where high school football is practically a religion. That passion spills over into each community’s other prep sports, making for a primed readership that is always hungry for one of our franchises — local sports coverage. In addition to prep sports, we cover Division II Angelo State University and three minor league professional franchises. The sports editor would lead a staff of five other journalists who are talented and prodigious, but need the focus that comes from a good line editor, a steady planner and a creative thinker who gives pop to a story, a package, a series and a section. We are seeking someone with at least five years experience. Pay and benefits are competitive. Please send a resume, clips and/or tearsheets to Managing Editor Anthony Wilson, 34 W. Harris Ave., San Angelo, Texas 76903 or to awilson@sastandardtimes.com..
