Pulitzer Central Coast Newspapers is seeking a talented and experienced individual to lead the copy desk/page design staff at its 20,000-circ. Santa Maria Times on California¹s beautiful Central Coast. We¹re looking for the complete package - someone who can combine strong stories and graphic elements into compelling pages; knows the importance of accurate and lively heads; is an insightful line editor; and can mentor a young-but-eager staff. Position will oversee our copy desk staff, have overall design responsibility for the newspaper, and advise our sister publications. Position involves night and weekend work. Prefer candidates with 3-5 years of professional experience, including management/supervisory experience, Applicants should be able to demonstrate excellent editing and pagination skills, including advanced proficiency using QuarkXPress.
