Pablo Colón began his newspaper career as a high school junior when he was hired by The Home News in New Brunswick, N.J., part-time as a graphic artist in 1983. He joined the newspaper full-time in 1984 while he was a student at Rutgers University, majoring in marketing and graphic design. In 1996, he was recruited by the Newark (N.J.) Star-Ledger and was named features design director shortly thereafter. Pablo has won numerous prestigious awards from the Society Of Newspaper Design, an annual international design competition that draws entries from 50 countries. His work has also been recognized with a variety of national honors for newspaper design.

NAHJ, UNITY: Journalists of Color, NABJ, CCNMA, NLGJA and SPJ have called on the FCC to delay issuing new broadcast ownership rules until more public hearings were held. A recent Pew Center survey found that 72 percent of all Americans had no idea the FCC were reviewing the nation’s broadcast ownership rules. The FCC is considering relaxing six broadcast ownership rules including the ban on newspaper-TV cross-ownership and the number of stations a company can own in a market.
