2006 NAHJ Convention Fort Lauderdale, Florida Sponsorship Opportunities
STUDENT EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
These programs feature a team of students and media professionals working in a newsroom setting. It provides students with a great opportunity to get hands-on training in daily journalism. In addition to the benefits listed on the Sponsorship Levels page, sponsors will receive recognition on the 2006 Student Video which will be aired at the Hall of Fame Gala.
Student Campus
This intensive, three-day program is conducted at a local college or university and trains students about coverage issues, news writing and newsroom ethics. Senior journalists and academic experts develop a curriculum to expose students to the latest industry trends and technology.
Participants: 25 students, 10 professional staff
Sponsorship: $50,000 ($25,000 for co-sponsorship)
The Latino Reporter y El Reportero Latino
Students get an opportunity to write, edit, layout and produce a 12-page newspaper covering the convention and the community. Students work as reporters, photographers, copy editors and graphic artists under the supervision of professional journalists to publish a daily newspaper in both English and Spanish.
Participants: 25 students, 15 professional staff
Newspaper: Three editions of 2,000 copies each

El Noticiero
Sponsored by: Univision
Latino Reporter Digital
This program offers students the chance to build a Web site from the ground up while covering the daily activities of the convention. The students work with new media professionals in each phase of the comprehensive online site which includes newsgathering, site design and maintenance.
Participants: 6 students, 6 professional staff

Radio Ondas
Students serve as on-air reporters, anchors and producers to create stories for traditional radio and the Web. They learn to produce all of their work using the latest digital editing and producing software with the final product being a high-quality radio program in both English and Spanish.
Participants: 6 students, 6 professional staff
