
This year's convention will capitalize on its locale being in Silicon Valley, the hub of
technology, and California having one of the largest and most diverse Latino communities in
the country with strong roots to Mexican heritage. We explore issues that
affect the Latino community at large, free press issues and the changing landscape of
the media among other hot button topics.
Newsmaker Luncheon

Prominent panelists gather over lunch to discuss a
hot topic related to diversity in the news media
and/or other industry issues. In 2006, the
luncheon brought together New Mexico Governor
Bill Richardson, former Mexican Foreign Minister
Jorge Castañeda and Lou Dobbs of CNN’s "Lou
Dobbs Tonight" to discuss immigration.

Simultaneous Translation
Simultaneous translation will be offered at most
major plenary sessions, luncheons, and other
workshops as deemed appropriate. This will allow
the full integration of those whose primary
language is Spanish or English a chance to fully
participate in all discussions of hemispheric
importance.

This forum, held for San Jose’s Latino community,
will feature a panel of political/social leaders from
the U.S., Mexico and/or the Caribbean or a mix of

country’s Latino communities. This is the only
convention event open to the public.

The NAHJ convention program offers participants
the opportunity to enhance their professional
